Minutes:

1.1.      The Chair welcomed Members and members of the public to the meeting.

1.2.      Apologies for absence were received from Gwenda Thomas AM; John Griffiths AM, substituted for Gwenda Thomas in accordance with Standing Order 17.48.

1.3.      Alun Davies AM and Janet Finch-Saunders AM declared interests as landlords in the private rented sector. Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM declared an interest as a tenant in the private rented sector.

2.2 Mr Haig agreed to provide the Committee with additional information regarding:

·         the Residential Landlords Associations views on the wider enforcement issues that relate to the Renting Homes Bill.

·         rent increases and rent control, and also agreed to share with the Committee a related report by Professor Michael Ball.

 

2.3 Mr Cecil agreed to provide the Committee with additional information regarding the National Landlords Associations views on the wider enforcement issues that relate to the Renting Homes Bill.

Consideration of the consultation on a Private Renting Sector Code of Practice for Landlords and Agents

Minutes:

10.1 The Committee noted the Welsh Government’s current consultation on a Private Renting Sector Code of Practice for Landlords and Agents and agreed to write to the Minister for Communities and Tackling Poverty to seek further information on the timescales for the finalising of the Code.
