Legislative Consent: Medicines and Medical Devices Bill

The Medicines and Medical Devices Bill (the Bill) was introduced in the House of Commons on 13 February 2020.

 

The Bill is subject to the legislative consent process under Standing Order 29. This is when the consent of the Welsh Parliament is sought by the UK Government to legislate on an issue which could normally fall within the competence of the Senedd.

 

The Welsh Government laid a Legislative Consent Memorandum (LCM) on the Bill before the Senedd on 8 July 2020.

 

The Business Committee referred the LCM to the Health, Social Care and Sport Committee, and Legislation, Justice and Constitution Committee, with a reporting deadline of Thursday 22 October 2020.

 

The Legislation, Justice and Constitution Committee laid its report on the Legislative Consent Memorandum on 22 October 2020.

 

The Legislative Consent Motion on the Medicines and Medical Devices Bill was agreed in Plenary on 12 January 2021.

 

Supplementary Legislative Consent Memorandum

 

On 2 December 2020, the Welsh Government laid a Supplementary LCM (PDF 75KB).

 

The Business Committee referred the Supplementary LCM to the Health, Social Care and Sport Committee, and Legislation, Justice and Constitution Committee, with a reporting deadline of Monday 11 January 2021.

 

The Legislation, Justice and Constitution Committee laid its report on the Supplementary LCM on 16 December 2020.
