Questions to the First Minister - Fifth Senedd

Assembly Members (AMs) may ask Oral Assembly Questions to the First Minister about any matter falling within their areas of responsibility.

The First Minister answers questions each week. Oral questions are answered during a designated Question Time in Plenary. Once every four sitting weeks the item will be scheduled for 60 minutes and the Deputy Minister and Chief Whip will answer questions for the last 15 minutes of this session on matters relating to her responsibilities.

The Presiding Officer conducts a ballot to determine the names of Members who may table questions. Each Member may enter their name into a ballot.

The Member selected must then table their oral question at least five days before the question is due to be answered. A computer randomly selects the order in which the questions are to be asked in Plenary.
