Welsh Government Budget 2016-17

Welsh Government Budget 2016-17

The Finance Committee looked at the Welsh Government’s budget for 2016-17 from a strategic, overarching perspective.

It also worked with the other Assembly committees to ensure that proposals for specific Ministerial portfolios were considered in detail.  Committees undertook their own focussed evidence sessions with the relevant Ministers in order to examine the areas of the budget that falls within their respective remits and then reported to the Finance Committee, detailing any concerns they had.

The Welsh Government published its Draft Budget for 2016-17 on 8 December 2015.

The Finance Committee held a public consultation into the draft budget proposals between 9 December 2015 and 7 January 2016.

The Finance Committee published a report on its Scrutiny of the Welsh Government Draft Budget for 2016-17 (PDF, 1MB) on 2 February 2016.

A Plenary debate on the draft budget was held on 9 February 2016.

The Welsh Government responded to the Finance Committee’s report (PDF, 674KB) on 6 March 2016.
