P-06-1291 Hold an enquiry into the corporate takeover of the veterinary profession in Wales

The Committee considered the petition and agreed to notify the Economy, Trade and Rural Affairs Committee of the petition and ask what plans they have in place to look at the issue as part of their forward work programme, particularly in relation to standards of animal care.

P-06-1299 Welsh Government 'Freeze on road building" to include a clause for cases that pose a danger to life

The Committee considered the petition and agreed to await the publication of the response to the Roads Review Panel report before deciding the appropriate action to take on the petition.

P-06-1300 Review the decision allowing local authorities to increase council tax premiums on second homes to 300%

The Committee considered the petition and noted that there has been a considerable amount of scrutiny in Committees and in Plenary on the issue. Now that the regulations have been agreed it is now a matter for local authorities to decide how to use them. The Committee agreed to close the petition, thank the petitioner, and encourage him and those who have signed this petition to reach out to their local authority representatives.

P-06-1302 Protect Mid-Wales’ unique Cambrian Mountains: designate them an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

The Committee considered the petition and agreed to write to Business Committee to request a debate on the petition and recommend that it takes place before the end of the year to coincide with the 50th anniversary.

Updates to previous petitions

3.1

P-05-1106 Introduce Personal Health Budgets and Personalised Care in Wales

The Committee considered the petition and noted how important it is to ensure the current challenges, which limit individual’s voice and control, are addressed.

Members welcomed the offer of an update from the Deputy Minister and agreed to keep the petition open and consider it again when the update is received.

P-06-1163 Extend the postgraduate STEMM bursary to all MSc students in Wales

The Committee considered the petition and agreed that they have taken the issue as far as they can as a committee and agreed to close the petition and thank the petitioner.

3.3

P-06-1240 Improve health services for people with epilepsy living in Wales

The Committee considered the petition and agreed to write back to Hywel Dda University Health Board noting their disappointment that no response has been received and requesting they now submit a response.

 

The Committee also welcomed the work undertaken by Epilepsy Action Cymru and agreed to share their report and recommendation with the Health Minister and seek her response to these.

P-06-1249 Provide a clinical pathway, medical care, and specialists for people with Tourette’s syndrome in Wales

The Committee considered the petition and noted the debate that took place earlier this year and the recent announcement by the Deputy Minister for Social Services to develop a new national improvement programme for neurodevelopmental conditions.

 

Considering this announcement, the Committee congratulated the petitioner and all those who have campaigned for appropriate services for those with Tourette’s syndrome in Wales and closed the petition.

P-06-1276 Extend section 25B of the Nurse Staffing Levels Act (Wales) 2016

The Committee considered the petition and noted how pleased the petitioners were to bring the issues to a debate in the Senedd and for the strength of feeling among the public and nursing professionals to be highlighted.

 

As a result of the debate, the Committee agreed that they have taken the petition as far as it can and wished the Royal Collage of Nursing well in their future campaigns and closed the petition.

Motion under Standing Order 17.42(ix) to resolve to exclude the public from the remainder of the meeting
