Assembly Member Pension Scheme Rules

Assembly Member Pension Scheme Rules

The Remuneration Board’s Determination outlines that Assembly Members will automatically be enrolled in the Assembly Members’ Pension Scheme (unless they choose to opt out).

The Pension Scheme itself is managed by the Scheme’s Pension Board.

The Remuneration Board is responsible for the rules of the Scheme and for setting the level and form of Member benefits.

Consultation

The Remuneration Board is proposing to make a number of changes to the Rules of the Pension Scheme to ensure ongoing compliance with age discrimination requirements with regard to members aged 75 and over. The Board is also proposing to provide increased flexibility for Members suffering from severe ill health, around the form in which they can take their pension.

Full details of the Board’s proposals are detailed in the attached consultation document.
