Inquiry into physical activity of children and young people

Inquiry5

Physical inactivity was considered to be the fourth leading risk factor for mortality. The Welsh Government had previously estimated the cost of physical inactivity to Wales as being £650 million per year. We knew that active children were more likely to become active adults and we also knew the importance of physical activity in tackling obesity

The Fifth Senedd Health, Social Care and Sport Committee held an inquiry into physical activity of children and young people.

The Fifth Senedd Committee published its report in March 2019. The Welsh Government responded in May 2019.

The Sixth Senedd Health and Social Care Committee wrote to the Minister for Health and Social Services on 8 July 2022 to seek an update on the Fifth Senedd Committee’s recommendations. The Minister responded on 26 September 2022.
