Enterprise and Business Committee


The Committee was established on 22 June 2011 with a remit to examine legislation and hold the Welsh Government to account by scrutinising its expenditure, administration and policy, encompassing economic development; transport and infrastructure; employment; higher education and skills; and research and development, including technology and science.

Committee Sub Groups



  • The Welsh Government’s response to the Committee’s Rugby report will be debated in plenary on 3 February.
  • The Committee has finished taking evidence on its Potential of the Maritime Economy in Wales inquiry. The report is due for publication in the spring term.
  • The Committee has completed its evidence gathering on Bus and Community Transport Services in Wales. The report is due for publication in the spring term.
  • The Committee undertook Post-legislative scrutiny on the Active Travel (Wales) Act 2013. The Committee hosted a stakeholder event in the Pierhead Building on 20 January, followed by a formal scrutiny session with the Minister for Economy, Science and Technology.
  • The Committee will hold a one-day session on the Pressures facing the Steel Industry in Wales on 3 March.
