EVENT: Zero Carbon Wales: How can we rise to the climate challenge?

Date: Tuesday 4 April 2017

Time: 18.30 - 20.00

Location: Education Classroom, Tŷ Hywel.

Description: In the climate agreement reached in Paris in December 2015, global leaders committed to keeping global temperature rises to 1.5 to 2 degrees above pre-industrial levels. This involves the world reaching net zero carbon by mid-century. The Wales-based Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) will present its cutting edge research which demonstrates how we can achieve a Zero Carbon Britain using technology available today. The event will also mark the Wales launch of CAT’s latest research report, Zero Carbon Britain: Making it Happen, which explores the barriers to delivering a zero carbon society and how these can be overcome. The report highlights numerous innovative examples of zero carbon initiatives being delivered in local communities and focuses on how these can be rapidly scaled up to meet the demands of the climate science. This will be followed by a discussion about how CAT’s work can support action at a Wales-wide level and how Assembly Members can work together to ensure Wales takes a lead in combatting climate change.

Open to the public: The event will take place outside our normal opening hours therefore attendance will be by invitation only
