P-05-775 Put an End to the Cross Border and Sub-contracting Taxi Licensing Loophole

The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to write to the Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infrastructure to share the views of the petitioners, including the suggestion that journeys should be required to start or end in the area the vehicle and driver are licensed in, and request an update on the views in relation to cross-border and sub-contracting licensing received through the recent consultation.

P-05-777 Application of the Automatic Fire Suppression Systems Legislation within the current Building Regulations for Wales.

The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to write to the Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Rural Affairs to ask whether, and when, the Welsh Government intends to review the impact of the 2013 legislation and its applicability to projects of the type described by the petitioner.

The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to write to the Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Rural Affairs to ask if she will consider the petitioner’s proposal for the Welsh Government to introduce a requirement to scan recovered pet carcasses and notify owners in new contracts for waste services, or issuing further guidance to local authorities on this issue.

·         whether and how the Welsh Government intends to share the results of its data collection into schools with asbestos plans; and

·         for an update on when the Asbestos in Schools Working Group will be holding discussions to consider recent developments in England and their applicability to schools in Wales.

The Committee considered correspondence from the petitioner and agree to write to the Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infrastructure to ask for confirmation that the proposed Iron Ring sculpture will not now be included as part of the planned investment at Flint Castle, and query the discrepancy between the contents of his letter to the Committee of 20 September and the press statement issued on 7 September.
