P-05-958 Recent Decisions Regarding AS Grades 2020

The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to:

 

·         share the petitioner’s further comments with the Minister for Education and seek a response to the issues raised and further questions asked, including the concern over the wellbeing of students opting to sit two sets of exams;

·         write to organisations representing head teachers to seek their views on the approach being taken in Wales; and

·         seek the views of Members of the Youth Parliament.

P-05-959 Give Welsh Vulnerable Access to Priority Supermarket Shopping Slots During COVID19

The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to close the petition at the request of the petitioner, and because a system to ensure that individuals who are shielding can given priority delivery slots by supermarkets in Wales has been established since the petition was submitted.

P-05-960 Fund the funeral costs of all NHS staff who die from or with Covid-19

The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to write back to the Minister for Health and Social Services to:

·         raise the points made by the petitioners about the entitlement for families of locum and agency staff, and non-British citizens working in the NHS,

·         ask whether workers in these categories would be covered by the COVID-19 Death in Service Scheme for NHS and Social Care frontline workers; and

·         propose that the Welsh Government should consider whether the scheme can be extended to other essential workers.

P-05-908 CF3 against the Incinerator

The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to:

·         write to Môr Harfen Bio Power to seek information about the development of the draft plans for the proposed development, including timescales and their intentions for further public engagement or consultation; and

·         write to the Minister for Environment, Energy and Rural Affairs and the Minister for Housing and Local Government to ask whether continued incineration of waste aligns with the declaration of a Climate Emergency and the Welsh Government’s waste strategy.

P-05-946 Save Royal Glamorgan A&E

The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to:

·         write to the Minister for Health and Social Services to ask what assurances he is able to give that the current circumstances of the A&E department, as impacted by the current pandemic, will be taken into account in future plans and decisions about the A&E department at the Royal Glamorgan hospital; and

·         write to the Business Committee to seek and indication as to when it envisages there being an opportunity for business such as this petition to be discussed in Plenary.

The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to:

·         write to the Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism to seek a response to the request that Cadw’s listing decision be referred for an independent peer review by Historic England or Historic Scotland; and

·         write to the Business Committee to seek and indication as to when it envisages there being an opportunity for business such as this petition to be discussed in Plenary.

P-05-955 Objection to proposal by Costain to implement Option B in the rerouting of the A465 at Brynmawr

In light of the fact that public exhibitions and subsequent work has been delayed due to the Coronavirus, the Committee agreed to await receipt of the petitioners response to the Minister for Economy, Transport and North Wales’s letter before considering what further action could be taken on the petition.

3.6

P-05-956 SAVE NEEDED DOCTOR SURGERIES

Given that Lansbury and Troed y Bryn Surgeries closed on 1 May following unsuccessful efforts to recruit a new GP, and patients have been transferred to other local surgeries, the Committee agreed that there is little further action that they could take. The Committee therefore agreed to close the petition and thank the petitioner for highlighting the issue.
