P-05-754 Lack of support for children with disabilities at crisis (the is a crisis team but do not support children with disabilities)

The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to write to the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Well-being and Sport to share the experiences of the petitioner and ask:

  • whether it is typical across Wales for children with learning difficulties not to be able to access CAMHS crisis care teams; and
  • whether there are any plans to expand access to these services.

P-05-758 Statue to Honour Billy Boston

The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to write to the petitioners to share the information received about possible options for funding a statue and ask that they update the Committee on any progress made in due course.

P-05-759 Re-open the Cwmcarn Forest Drive at Easter 2018

The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to write to the Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Rural Affairs to ask if the Welsh Government has considered providing funding to NRW to support the reopening of the Forest Drive to vehicles, and to highlight the petitioner’s concerns about the timescales for the proposed study.

The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to await the views of the petitioner on the response received from the Cabinet Secretary for Education before deciding on an appropriate course of action.

P-04-648 Unconventional Oil and Gas Planning Applications

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to write to the Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Rural Affairs to ask what implications the devolution of further powers over onshore oil and gas will have on Welsh Government policy.

P-05-750 For single use items: introduce a Deposit Return System for drink containers and make fast food containers and utensils compostable

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to write to the Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Rural Affairs to seek the clarifications requested by the petitioners, including whether:

 

o   the planned reviews will include an evaluation of the prospects of introducing a Deposit Return System, and an assessment of the legislation required; and

o   interested stakeholders will be able to meaningfully engage with the Welsh Government in their evaluation of evidence from these reviews, prior to formal public consultation.

 

The Committee also agreed to consider holding an inquiry into the proposal raised by the petition once the response from the Cabinet Secretary is received.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to close the petition given the length of time since it was submitted and because it is not possible to identify how to take the petition forward in the absence of contact from the petitioner.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition from the Welsh Government and health boards, and agreed to invite the petitioners and Diabetes UK Cymru to give oral evidence to the Committee on the petition and the information received to date.

P-05-732 Unacceptable Waiting Times for NHS patients in A & E Wrecsam/Wrexham Maelor Hospital

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to write to the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Well-being and Sport to ask whether A&E waiting times have continued to improve at Wrexham Maelor Hospital and what steps are being taken nationally to improve emergency waiting times.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to write to the Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infrastructure to ask for an update on the outcome of discussions between officials and Ceredigion Council with regard to further improvement measures that may be possible on the A487.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to write to the Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infrastructure to:

 

·         request details on the consideration that was given to a new station in Gabalfa as part of the Stage 1 Assessment on New Rail Stations Prioritisation; and

·         ask whether separate consideration will be given to potential links to the South Wales Metro in the area covered by the petition.
