The Committee considered ministerial correspondence on the petition and in light of the decision to build a new renal unit, it was agreed to close the petition. The Committee congratulated the lead petitioner for his persistence in pursuing the issue.

Bethan Jenkins reported back to the Committee on the rapporteur visit to the renal unit in Pentwyn, Cardiff.
The Committee agreed to:
Seek information on the current plans for a new renal unit in Merthyr; and
Await a response to the Chair’s letter to Cwm Taf Health Board seeking an update on the proposed meeting with Prince Charles Hospital renal patients.

Minutes:
The Committee discussed the rapporteur visit undertaken to the Prince Charles Hospital renal unit and agreed to:
Undertake a visit to the renal unit in Pentwyn, Cardiff and extend the invitation to any patients at the Prince Charles unit who may wish to attend;
Write to the Minister requesting an update on the business case for capital investment at Prince Charles Hospital.
