Committee considered correspondence on the petition and, in light of the Welsh
Government’s announcement of a permanent small business rates relief scheme to
be in place from 1 April 2018, agreed to give the petitioner a further
opportunity to comment before the next meeting on 27 February and to close the
petition if no response is received.

Committee considered further comments from the petitioner and agreed to:

seek
the petitioner’s views on the proposals contained in the current consultation
published by the Welsh Government on proposals for a new, permanent Small
Business Rate Relief Scheme; and

encourage
the petitioner to also respond directly to the Welsh Government as part of the
consultation.

Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to write to the
Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Local Government to seek answers to the
specific questions raised by the petitioner.
