The Committee agreed to close the petition in light of the previous offer of engagement from Neath Port Talbot County Council, and because no response has recently been received from the petitioner.

The Committee considered correspondence from Neath Port Talbot County Council and agreed to write to the petitioner to ask her whether she would like to take up the Chief Executive’s offer to meet with his officials locally.

  • contact the petitioner to seek their views on the latest correspondence; and
  • write to Neath Port Talbot Council to ask them to address the specific comments made by the petitioner about her experiences in trying to access support services in their area.

The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to write to:

 

·         the Minister for Lifelong Learning and Welsh Language to ask how the Welsh Government monitors (a) the effectiveness of services and support for children with autism and their parents, and (b) the outcomes achieved from the funding provided; and

·         Neath Port Talbot Council to seek their response to the specific experiences related by the petitioner.
