The Committee considered comments from the petitioner and agreed, given that the Committee has previously requested that residents are consulted in the event that the Welsh Government proceeds to sell the land in question and the petitioner has been in contact with Government officials, that there may be little further practical action that the Committee could take. Therefore Members agreed to close the petition.

The Committee considered correspondence from the Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Transport together with further comments from the petitioner and agreed to:

·         write to the Cabinet Secretary to ask that the Government consults with any residents directly affected in the event that it does propose to sell the land; and

·         keep a watching brief.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and concluded that there is little further that the Committee can do while discussions between the Welsh Government and the local authority about use of the land are ongoing. The Committee agreed to write to the Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infrastructure to ask him to update the Committee once these discussions have concluded.

The Committee considered correspondence from the petitioner and agreed to write to the Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infrastructure:

• asking if he would be willing to consult with the petitioner and other residents of Park View Terrace over the future usage of the land once current discussions with the local authority have concluded, and prior to any sale process;
• enquire whether users of lane and land currently used for parking will have gained a right of way to the land by virtue of long-standing usage; and
• seeking clarification on inconsistencies in previous correspondence highlighted by the petitioner.

The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to await the views of the petitioner before deciding what action to take on this issue.
