1       Introductions, apologies, substitutions and declarations of interest

1.1        The Chair welcomed Members to the meeting.

2       Scrutiny of the Chief Medical Officer for Wales' annual report 2018-2019

2.1  The Committee received evidence from the Chief Medical Officer for Wales.



3       Paper(s) to note



3.1   Letter from the Chair of the Petitions Committee regarding Petition P-05-866 Sepsis Public Awareness Campaign - Wales

3.1  The Committee noted the letter.



4       Motion under Standing Order 17.42 (vi) to resolve to exclude the public from the remainder of this meeting

4.1  The Committee agreed to the Motion to exclude the public from the remainder of the meeting.



5       Scrutiny of the Chief Medical Officer for Wales’ annual report 2018-2019: Consideration of evidence

5.1  The Committee agreed to write to the CMO for further information on a number of matters discussed during the meeting.



6       Forward work programme: Inquiry into Sepsis

6.1  The Committee considered and agreed to proceed with the inquiry into Sepsis along the terms agreed at its forward work discussion on 19 September 2018. The Committee also considered the letter from the Chair of the Petitions Committee and agreed to respond with details of the inquiry.



7       Health and Social Care (Quality and Engagement) (Wales) Bill: Consideration of approach to Stage 1 Scrutiny (subject to introduction)

7.1  The Committee noted the draft timetable and agreed the approach to Stage 1 scrutiny with the addition of some suggested witnesses.
